HISTORY OF THE MUNICIPAL THEATRE
The Municipal Theatre of Mytilene, began to be built in 1952 with money from the legacy of Gr. Rouselli who envisioned very small entrance fee or even in some cases free entrance for the economically weaker classes. Executors of his vision were Alatzas John, Paul Vlachos and Polybius Chiotellis.
The construction was completed in 1968 with a loan obtained by the Municipality of Mytilene and donation by O. KARAPANAGIOTOU.
The Municipal Theatre has a capacity of 756 seats and also operates as cinema.Furthermore in the theatre’s foyer, are organized lectures, cultural events and exhibitions.
